Rutger Oelsen Hauer (born 23 January 1944 in Breukelen, Netherlands; died 19 July 2019 in Beetsterzwaag, Netherlands) was a Dutch actor. In 1999, he was named by the Dutch public as the Best Dutch Actor of the Century.

Hauer's career began in 1969 with the title role in the Paul Verhoeven directed Dutch television series Floris. Hauer then moved into American films such as Nighthawks (1981) and Blade Runner (1982). Later films include Osterman Weekend (1983), Ladyhawke (1985), Flesh+Blood (1985), The Hitcher (1986), Wanted: Dear or Alive (1987), The Legend of the Holy Drinker (1988), Blind Fury (1989), Bloodhounds of Broadway (1989), Surviving the Game (1994), Bone Daddy (1998), Sin City (2005), Batman Begins (2005), Hobo with a Shotgun (2011) and Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets (2017).

I met Mr Hauer at London Film & Comic Con in July 2016.
