William Hope

William Hope (born 2nd March 1955 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada) is a Canadian actor, whom I know best for his roles as Lieutenant Scott Gorman in Aliens (1986) and Kyle MacRae in Hellbound: Hellraiser II (1988).

I met William at Film & Comic Con Glasgow on 24th August 2024.

Tom Skerritt

Thomas Roy Skerritt (born 25 August 1933 in Detroit, Michigan, USA) is an American actor who has appeared in over 40 films and more than 200 television episodes since 1962. He is known for his film roles in M*A*S*H (1970), Alien (1979), The Dead Zone (1983), Top Gun (1986), Spacecamp (1986), Poltergeist III (1988), The Rookie (1990), Knight Moves (1992), and Contact (1997).

The Top Gun photo below was signed by Tom in November 2021 when he made an appearance at London Film & Comic Con. I pre-ordered it from the Showmasters send-in service. I won the Alien photo at the silent auction at Film & Comic Con Glasgow in August 2017. I believe Tom signed it at LFFC the month before.

Veronica Cartwright

Veronica Cartwright (born 20 April 1949 in Bristol, England) is a British-American actress. She is known for appearing in science fiction and horror films. As a child actress, she appeared in supporting roles in The Children's Hour (1961) and The Birds (1963). She made her transition into mainstream, mature roles with Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978) and Alien (1979). Other acting credits include The Right Stuff (1983), The Witches of Eastwick (1987), and Candyman: Farewell to the Flesh (1995).

The autograph below was signed by Veronica in November 2021 when she made an appearance at London Film & Comic Con. I pre-ordered it from the Showmasters send-in service.

Lance Henriksen

Lance James Henriksen (born 5th May 1940 in Manhattan, New York, USA) is an American actor, voice actor and artist. He is best known for his roles in science fiction, action and horror films.

Memorable films include Dog Day Afternoon (1975), Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977), Damien: Omen II (1978), The Right Stuff (1983), The Terminator (1984), Aliens (1986), Near Dark (1987), Pumpkinhead (1988), The Horror Show (1989; also known as House III), Stone Cold (1991), Alien³ (1992), Hard Target (1993), The Nature of the Beast (1995; known as Hatchet Man in the UK and Bad Company in some other territories), Scream 3 (2000), Alien vs. Predator (2004) and Hellraiser: Hellworld (2005).

I met Mr Henriksen at Collectormania Glasgow in August 2013.

John Hurt

Sir John Vincent Hurt CBE (born 22 January 1940 in Shirebrook, Derbyshire, England; died 25 January 2017 in Cromer, Norfolk, England) was a celebrated English actor whose career spanned more than 50 years.

Hurt's performance in the prison drama Midnight Express (1978) brought him international renown and earned Golden Globe and BAFTA Awards, along with an Academy Award nomination. His BAFTA-nominated portrayal of astronaut Kane, in the science-fiction horror film Alien (1979), contained a scene in which an alien creature burst out of his chest. Hurt earned his third competitive BAFTA, along with his second Oscar and Golden Globe nominations, as John Merrick in David Lynch's biopic The Elephant Man (1980).

Other significant roles during the 1980s included Bob Champion in biopic Champions (1984), Mr. Braddock in the Stephen Frears drama The Hit (1984), Winston Smith in Nineteen Eighty-Four (1984) and Stephen Ward in the drama depicting the Profumo affair, Scandal (1989). Hurt was again BAFTA-nominated for his work in Irish drama The Field (1990) and played the primary villain, James Graham, in the epic adventure Rob Roy (1995). His later films include the Harry Potter film series (2001–2011), the Hellboy films (2004 and 2008), The Skeleton Key (2005), The Proposition (2005), V for Vendetta (2005), Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008) and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (2011). In 2012, he was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement BAFTA Award, in recognition of his "outstanding contribution to cinema". He was knighted in 2015 for his services to drama.

Ian Whyte

Ian Stuart Whyte (born 17 September 1971 in Bangor, Gwynedd, Wales) is a Welsh actor, stuntman and former professional basketball player. He is known for his roles as Predators in Alien vs. Predator (2004) and its sequel Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem (2007), Sheikh Suleiman in the 2010 remake of Clash of the Titans and The Last Engineer in Prometheus (2012).

He also portrayed various characters in the HBO fantasy series Game of Thrones (2011-2017) including White Walkers in season 1 and season 2 and a giant in the opening episode of season 3. For these roles he was unrecognisable under make-up and computer effects. In season 2, he also had a speaking role as Ser Gregor "The Mountain" Clegane. In season 5 and season 6, Whyte portrayed the giant Wun Wun. He later played a giant wight in episode 3 of Season 8.

I met Ian at Film & Comic Con Newcastle in March 2014 and at a double bill screening of Predator and Alien vs. Predator organised by the Burnt Church Film Club at The Flying Duck in Glasgow on 12 August 2018.

Kate Dickie

Kate Dickie (born 23 March 1971 in East Kilbride, Scotland) is a Scottish actress who has appeared in television series, stage plays and films. She is known for her television roles as Lex in the BBC series Tinsel Town (2000–01) and Lysa Arryn in the HBO series Game of Thrones (2011-14). She appeared as Ford in Prometheus (2012), as Katherine in The Witch (2015) and as First Order Officer in Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017).

I have met Kate twice: at Collectormania Glasgow in August 2014 and at a Matchbox Cineclub screening of The Witch at the Centre for Contemporary Arts in Glasgow in October 2018.

Jenette Goldstein

Jenette Elise Goldstein (born 4 February 1960 in Los Angeles, California, USA) is an American actress, best known for her role as Private Vasquez in the 1986 science fiction horror action film Aliens and as John Connor's foster mother in Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991). She also appeared as the vampire Diamondback in Near Dark (1987), Officer Meagan Shapiro in Lethal Weapon 2 (1989), the USS Enterprise science officer in Star Trek Generations (1994) and an Irish immigrant mother in Titanic (1997).

I met Jenette at Film & Comic Con Glasgow in August 2017. I obtained her autograph through the Showmasters send-in service in, I believe, 2015.

Colette Hiller

Colette Hiller is an American actress who starred on film, theatre and television. She attended the Performing Arts Academy in New York as a teenager and appeared in the original musical play of Annie. She was also in other films and plays such as Birth of the Beatles (1979), Ragtime (1981), The Lonely Lady (1983) and Strong Medicine (1986). She played Corporal Ferro in the 1986 film Aliens.

I met Colette at Film & Comic Con Glasgow in August 2017.

Trevor Butterfield

Trevor Anthony Butterfield is a British actor and special effects technician.. He played several different roles in the Star Wars movies. He played an Imperial Officer and a Stormtrooper in The Empire Strikes Back (1980) and Bossk (filling in for Alan Harris), Lieutenant Blount, a Stormtrooper, Calamari Warrior and Giran in Return of the Jedi (1983).

He was credited as a (senior) special effects technician for many major film productions including Aliens (1986), Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989), Hudson Hawk (1991), Mission: Impossible (1996), Daylight (1996), Mortal Kombat: Annihilation (1997), Legionnaire (1998), Prometheus (2012) and six of the Harry Potter films (2003-11).

I met Trevor at the Something Bl**dy Awesome convention in Edinburgh in April 2014.

Michael Biehn

Michael Connell Biehn (born 31 July 1956 in Anniston, Alabama, USA) is an American actor, primarily known for his military roles in science fiction films directed by James Cameron; as Sgt. Kyle Reese in The Terminator (1984), Cpl. Dwayne Hicks in Aliens (1986) and Lt. Coffey in The Abyss (1989). His other films include The Fan (1981), Navy SEALs (1990), Tombstone (1993), The Rock (1996), Megiddo: The Omega Code 2 (2001) and Planet Terror (2007). On television, he has appeared in Hill Street Blues (1984) and Adventure Inc. (2002-03).

I have met Michael three times: at Collectormania London in August 2010, at Sheffield Film & Comic Con in August 2015 and at Film & Comic Con Glasgow, also in August 2015.

Brian Tyler

Brian Tyler (born 8 May 1972 in Orange County, California, USA) is an American composer, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, conductor, arranger, DJ and producer. Tyler's scores include Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem (2007), Rambo (2008), The Expendables trilogy (2010-14), Iron Man 3 (2013), Thor: The Dark World (2013) and Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015) with Danny Elfman. He also re-arranged the current fanfare of the Universal Pictures logo (composed by Jerry Goldsmith) and the updated Marvel Studios logo, which debuted with Thor: The Dark World. He composed the score of five installments of The Fast and the Furious franchise.

I purchased signed Rambo and The Expendables soundtrack CDs from Buysoundtrax.com around the time both albums were released.

Carl Chase

Carl Chase is an English actor who played Frank in the 1992 film Alien³. Other notable films Chase has appeared in include Batman (1989), Cutthroat Island (1995), The Mummy (1999) and Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001). Aside from his work in film, Chase has also had an extensive career in British television.

I met Carl at Collectormania Glasgow in August 2013.
