Billy Dee Williams

William December Williams Jr. (born April 6, 1937) is an American actor. He appeared as Lando Calrissian in the Star Wars franchise, first in the early 1980s for The Empire Strikes Back (1980) and Return of the Jedi (1983), and thirty-six years later in The Rise of Skywalker (2019), marking one of the longest intervals between onscreen portrayals of a character by the same actor in American film history.

He first came to my attention as Detective Matthew Fox in Nighthawks (1981), one of my all-time favourite Stallone films. He also starred as Detective Hazeltine in Number One with a Bullet (1986) and played Harvey Dent in Batman (1989).

Mr Williams signed my Nighthawks lobby card when he appeared at London Film & Comic Con Spring in February 2016. I did not attend this convention but used the Showmasters pre-order service instead.
