Jerome Blake

Jerome Blake (born 1956 in England) is an actor who had a number of roles in the three Star Wars prequels: The Phantom Menace (1999), Attack of the Clones (2002) and Revenge of the Sith (2005).

I met Jerome at Film & Comic Con Newcastle in March 2014.

Katie Purvis

Katie Purvis (born in 1966 or 1967) is an English actress who appeared in Return of the Jedi (1983), Labyrinth (1986), Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (2001) and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 (2011).

Frank Bruno

Franklin Roy Bruno, MBE (born 16 November 1961 in Wandsworth, London, England) is a British former professional boxer who competed from 1982 to 1996. He had a highly publicised and eventful career, both in and out of the ring. The pinnacle of Bruno's boxing career was winning the WBC heavyweight title from Oliver McCall at a packed Wembley Stadium in 1995, in what was his fourth world championship challenge. Bruno faced multiple top-rated heavyweights throughout his career, including two fights against Mike Tyson in 1989 and 1996, and a domestic clash against Lennox Lewis in 1993.

I met Frank Bruno for the first time at the Entertainment Media Show in London in October 2012 for a photo shoot together with Mike Tyson. I met him again, this time for a signed photo, at Film & Comic Con Newcastle in March 2014.

Ian Whyte

Ian Stuart Whyte (born 17 September 1971 in Bangor, Gwynedd, Wales) is a Welsh actor, stuntman and former professional basketball player. He is known for his roles as Predators in Alien vs. Predator (2004) and its sequel Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem (2007), Sheikh Suleiman in the 2010 remake of Clash of the Titans and The Last Engineer in Prometheus (2012).

He also portrayed various characters in the HBO fantasy series Game of Thrones (2011-2017) including White Walkers in season 1 and season 2 and a giant in the opening episode of season 3. For these roles he was unrecognisable under make-up and computer effects. In season 2, he also had a speaking role as Ser Gregor "The Mountain" Clegane. In season 5 and season 6, Whyte portrayed the giant Wun Wun. He later played a giant wight in episode 3 of Season 8.

I met Ian at Film & Comic Con Newcastle in March 2014 and at a double bill screening of Predator and Alien vs. Predator organised by the Burnt Church Film Club at The Flying Duck in Glasgow on 12 August 2018.

Kenneth Colley

Kenneth Colley (born 7 December 1937 in Manchester, Lancashire, England; died 30 June 2025 in Ashford, Kent, England) was an English film and television actor whose career spanned over 60 years. He came to wider prominence through his role as Admiral Piett in the Star Wars films The Empire Strikes Back (1980) and Return of the Jedi (1983). I also know him for his role as Colonel Kontarsky in Firefox (1982).

I met Mr Colley at Collectormania Glasgow in August 2012 and at Film & Comic Con Newcastle in March 2014.

Carl Weathers

Carl Weathers (born 14 January 1948 in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA; died 1 February 2024 in Los Angeles, California, USA) was an American actor and former professional football player.

He was best known for portraying Apollo Creed in the first four Rocky films (1976-85), Al Dillon in Predator (1987), Jericho "Action" Jackson in Action Jackson (1988), Chubbs Peterson in Happy Gilmore (1996) and Little Nicky (2000) and a fictionalized version of himself in the comedy series Arrested Development (2004-13). He had a recurring role as Greef Karga in the Star Wars-spinoff series, The Mandalorian (2019-23). As a football player, Weathers played for the Oakland Raiders of the National Football League and the B.C. Lions of the Canadian Football League.

I met Carl at Collectormania London in November 2010, at Film & Comic Con Newcastle in March 2014 and at London Film & Comic Con in July 2016.

Julian Glover

Julian Wyatt Glover CBE (born 27 March 1935 in Hampstead, London, England) is an English classical actor, with many stage, television and film roles since commencing his career in the 1950s. He is a recipient of the Laurence Olivier Award and has performed many times for the Royal Shakespeare Company.

Glover is known for portraying major characters in many popular movie and television franchises. His film roles have included General Maximilian Veers in The Empire Strikes Back (1980), Aristotle Kristatos in the James Bond film For Your Eyes Only (1981) and Walter Donovan in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989). He also voiced the giant spider Aragog in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002).

Glover has also appeared frequently on television, especially in the UK, including guest appearances on such series as The Avengers, The Saint, Doctor Who, Blake's 7 and Remington Steele. From 2011-16, he played the recurring supporting role of Grand Maester Pycelle in HBO's Game of Thrones. In January 2013, he appeared as General Beauvilliers in the BBC drama Spies of Warsaw.

I met Mr Glover at the 2014 editions of Film & Comic Con Newcastle (March) and Collectormania Glasgow (August) and at Film & Comic Con Glasgow in August 2022.
