Barbie Wilde

Barbie Wilde (born 1960 in Canada) is a Canadian-born British actress and writer. She is known to me for her roles as the Female Cenobite in Hellbound: Hellraiser II (1988) and as Female Punk in Death Wish 3 (1985).

I met Barbie at the Entertainment Media Show in London in October 2011.

John Hurt

Sir John Vincent Hurt CBE (born 22 January 1940 in Shirebrook, Derbyshire, England; died 25 January 2017 in Cromer, Norfolk, England) was a celebrated English actor whose career spanned more than 50 years.

Hurt's performance in the prison drama Midnight Express (1978) brought him international renown and earned Golden Globe and BAFTA Awards, along with an Academy Award nomination. His BAFTA-nominated portrayal of astronaut Kane, in the science-fiction horror film Alien (1979), contained a scene in which an alien creature burst out of his chest. Hurt earned his third competitive BAFTA, along with his second Oscar and Golden Globe nominations, as John Merrick in David Lynch's biopic The Elephant Man (1980).

Other significant roles during the 1980s included Bob Champion in biopic Champions (1984), Mr. Braddock in the Stephen Frears drama The Hit (1984), Winston Smith in Nineteen Eighty-Four (1984) and Stephen Ward in the drama depicting the Profumo affair, Scandal (1989). Hurt was again BAFTA-nominated for his work in Irish drama The Field (1990) and played the primary villain, James Graham, in the epic adventure Rob Roy (1995). His later films include the Harry Potter film series (2001–2011), the Hellboy films (2004 and 2008), The Skeleton Key (2005), The Proposition (2005), V for Vendetta (2005), Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008) and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (2011). In 2012, he was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement BAFTA Award, in recognition of his "outstanding contribution to cinema". He was knighted in 2015 for his services to drama.

Peter Burroughs

Peter Burroughs (born 27 January 1947 in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, England) is an actor who played a swinging Ewok in Return of the Jedi (1983) and worked on the stunts for the film. Stock footage of his Ewok character in Return of the Jedi was later used in the video game Star Wars: Battlefront (2004). He also had parts in Flash Gordon (1980), The Dark Crystal (1982), Labyrinth (1986), Willow (1988), Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (2001) and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 (2011).

David Prowse

David Prowse MBE (born 1 July 1935 in Bristol, England; died 28 November 2020 in London, England) was a retired English bodybuilder, weightlifter and character actor in film and television. He was best known for physically portraying Darth Vader in the original Star Wars trilogy (1977-1983) with the character's voice being performed by James Earl Jones. I also knew him for his role as F. Alexander's bodyguard Julian in Stanley Kubrick's A Clockwork Orange (1971).

Kenny Baker

Kenneth George Baker (born 28 August 1934 in Birmingham, England; died 13 August 2016 in Preston, Lancashire, England) was an English actor and musician. He portrayed the character R2-D2 in the  first five Star Wars films (1977-2015) and also appeared in Flash Gordon (1980), The Elephant Man (1980), Time Bandits (1981), Amadeus (1984), Labyrinth (1986) and Willow (1988).

I met Kenny at Collectormania Glasgow in August 2009.

Mike Edmonds

Mike Edmonds (born 13 January 1944 in Chelmsford, Essex, England) is an English actor who has appeared in several films, including Flash Gordon (1980), Time Bandits (1981), The Dark Crystal (1982), Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988), Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (2001) and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 (2011). In Return of the Jedi (1983) he portrayed the Ewok Logray and was the operator for Jabba the Hutt's tail.

Rusty Goffe

Rusty Goffe (born 30 October 1948 in Herne Bay, Kent, England) is an English actor. He appeared as an Oompa-Loompa in the 1971 version of Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory and as a Jawa in Star Wars (1977), among a few other aliens.

He also appeared in Flash Gordon (1980) and Willow (1988) and had small parts in five Harry Potter films: in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (2001), Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004), Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007), Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2009) and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 (2011).
